Why should I use Khemeia to convert financial accounts?

Overview

• In countries around the world, authorities have or are in the process of mandating that company accounts and tax returns be submitted in XBRL or iXBRL format.  This is an interactive data format type which radically changes financial and business reporting.

In the UK

• In the UK from 1 April 2011 onwards HMRC require that UK companies submit their company accounts online in iXBRL format for accounting periods ending after 31 March 2010:
  • i.e. if you have to prepare accounts under the Companies Act 2006, you must file your accounts and computations in a set format - Inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language (iXBRL)
• To fulfil this need HMRC provides for very simple applications an accounts template within the HMRC free software, and also vendors of accounts production software are now incorporating functionality into their products that allows accounts information to be automatically output or exported in iXBRL format:
  • This only satisfies the requirement of companies who exclusively use their accounts software for the production of their annual accounts

Different workflow

However, many large and medium-sized companies, in the final stages, manually produce their company accounts using Microsoft Word, Excel or similar applications, and then often output as PDF.

For example, organisations who:

• Utilise accounts production for their accounts data, but then output information into packages (e.g. Word) for the editing, and produce final annual accounts in PDF format; a workflow typical of larger sized companies
• Or do not have the requisite accounts production software
